69-year-old man suspected of committing suicide in Mountain View

The body of a 69-year-old man was found in Mountain View Avenue, Kingston on Friday. Police say they are carrying out investigation into reports that the decease identified as Paul Garel committed suicide. Reports from the Stadium Police are that about 1:30 p.m., a relative of Garel went to his house and found him hanging by a length of rope that was tied to a grille. The police were summoned and the victim removed and taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The discovery has left residents in the area of Mountain View in shock. Police probing the case say residents claim the senior citizen committed suicide.

Cops seize firearm in St James, teen arrested

The police arrested a 19-year-old man and seized a firearm in Canaan district, St James on Thursday. Reports are that about 8:30 p.m., a police team was on mobile patrol in the community when they saw a man identified as Netovaughn Roshaun Downer otherwise called ‘Neto’ acting in a manner that arouse their suspicion. Police said they approached the man and he was seen trying to remove a weapon from his waistband. He was apprehended and a 9 mm Taurus Pistol with a magazine containing four rounds retrieved. He was taken to the police station where he was charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
